Southwest flight safely lands on Kaua‘i following fistfight midair

A Southwest flight from Oakland to Līhu‘e landed safely after a fistfight broke out between two men in midair on Monday.

A video posted on social media by KauaiAirBnB shows a man standing in the aisle of the plane punching another man standing by a seat. The fight was broken up and the situation was diffused by fellow passengers.

Southwest officials say flight 1288 landed safely as scheduled and local authorities met the aircraft upon arrival.

“We commend our crew and customers for their professionalism in diffusing this situation,” Southwest stated. “Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our customers and employees.”
