12:37 p.m. Jan. 24 update: A flood advisory issued for Kaua‘i County has been canceled.

Original post: A flood advisory was issued for the island of Kaua‘i till 1 p.m.

At 9:58 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain moving over Kaua‘i from the southwest, with heaviest showers producing rainfall rates near 1 inch per hour. Some locations that will experience flooding include:

  • Kalāheo
  • Kekaha
  • Princeville
  • Alaka‘i Swamp Trails
  • Kōke‘e State Park
  • Waimea
  • Hanapēpē
  • North Fork Wailua Trails
  • Nā Pali State Park
  • Lāwa‘i
  • ‘Ōma‘o
  • Wainiha
  • Hā‘ena
  • Mānā
  • Polihale
  • Hanalei
  • Kōloa
  • Barking Sands
  • Po‘ipū
  • Waimea Canyon State Park

Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams is expected. This advisory may need to be extended if flooding persists.
