A flood advisory is in effect for the Island of Kaua‘i till 1:15 p.m.

At 10:05 a.m., radar and automated rain gauges indicated that a band of heavy rain is moving over the island. Barking Sands received nearly 1 inch of rain in 30 minutes, suggesting that rain is falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Showers will continue to overspread the island through early afternoon as a front approaches and moves over the island.

Impacts include minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas and in streams. Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.

Do not cross fast-flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
