Oct. 30 update: The Brown Water Advisory at Nawiliwili Bay on Kaua‘i has been canceled.

Original post: The Hawai‘i Department of Health has issued a brown water advisory at Nāwiliwili Bay on Kaua‘i.

Heavy rain has caused stormwater runoff to enter coastal waters of the bay. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and stormwater runoff because of possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.

Not all coastal areas might be impacted; however, if the water is brown, stay out.
