The Kaua‘i Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying an unidentified body found in waters off the Waika‘ea Canal, also known as the Lihi Boat Ramp, in Kapa‘a on Tuesday morning.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.

According to a preliminary report, KPD personnel responded to a call of a possible body floating in waters off the Lihi Boat Ramp in Kapa‘a. Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel with the Kapa‘a fire station arrived to retrieve the body from the water. The body was later transported to Wilcox Medical Center.

The person is unrecognizable due to the advanced stage of decomposition.  An autopsy was completed, and no signs of foul play are currently suspected. There were no missing person reports filed recently with the Kaua’i Police Department. However, the body had an elastic bandage wrap on the left wrist.
