Clean Energy series tackles potential waste incineration this Thursday, Saturday

Local environmental group Zero Waste Kaua‘i is presenting a Clean Energy Speaking Series on the Garden Isle.

On Oct. 5 and 7, it will present “Talk Story with Mike Ewall,” the president of Beyond Burning.

The Kaua‘i County Council is considering pyrolysis, gasification and direct combustion of the island’s waste.

Ewall is a national expert on energy and water issues, with a focus on waste incineration, its hazards and alternatives.

Ewall supports communities to transition from polluting energy and waste facilities to clean energy and zero-waste systems.

On Oct. 5, Ewall will appear on 91.9 FM and KKCR.org from 4 to 6 p.m. Call in at 808-825-7771.
