Firefighters extinguish fire in Kalāheo Thursday; two individuals displaced

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Kalāheo on Thursday.

No injuries were reported. However, two individuals were displaced.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Puuwai Road in Kalāheo shortly before 11:10 p.m. Thursday.

Personnel from the Kalāheo and Hanapēpē fire stations, Rescue 3, the Fire Prevention Bureau, Kaua‘i Police Department, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, fire personnel arrived at the residential structure shortly after 11:15 p.m. and found the fire on the main floor. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 1:35 a.m.

Damages to structure and contents are estimated at $350,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
