Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Wailua Homesteads
The Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel extinguished a structure fire that broke out Saturday in the garage of a residence in Wailua Homesteads.
No injuries were reported, and all occupants and pets were safe and out of the home upon arrival of responders.
Firefighters from the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, Līhu‘e, and Kalāheo fire stations, along with Rescue 3, KFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the call.
Shortly before 11 a.m., firefighters received a report of a structure fire on Molo Street in Wailua Homesteads. Once on scene, they found a single-story home with visible smoke coming from the garage door.
Firefighters quickly entered the house to access the garage with an attack line, located and extinguished the fire. After checking the attic, responders also confirmed there was no fire extension and the fire was contained to the garage.
Fire inspectors with KFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau estimate damage to the structure and its contents to be roughly $30,000. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
The scene was cleared at approximately 12:15 p.m.
