Ty Nakamoto

A Kapa‘a man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager in May.

Ty Tsuneo Nakamoto, 30, was taken into custody in March for the incident that occurred in December 2022 after he met a 13-year-old minor on a dating application and sexually assaulted them while at their home.

“Protecting minors is a top priority for our Office,” said Kaua‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like. “We know that our island is safer when individuals that prey on the vulnerability of children are incarcerated.”
