Update as of 6 p.m.: Kaua‘i Fire Department crews have extinguished the brush fire in Keālia and cleared the scene.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened or damaged.

Update as of 5:25 p.m.: The Kaua‘i Police Department reports that Kūhiō Highway in Keālia is now open in both directions. Fire crews continue to respond to a brush fire near the Kaiakea fire station and Saint Catherine Church Cemetery.

Updates will be provided when more information is available.

Kaua‘i police report that southbound traffic on Kūhiō Highway will be diverted through Mailihuna Road. The highway will be open at the Mailihuna Road junction for northbound traffic.

The public is advised to stay away from the area until it is deemed safe.
