Injured hiker rescued in Kalalau Sunday

First responders rescued a 70-year-old Kīlauea woman from Kalalau Beach on Sunday.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a female with an ankle injury near Kalalau Beach shortly after 5:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3, Air 1, and American Medical Response responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, first responders located the hiker shortly after 6:05 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders loaded the hiker onto Air 1 and transported her to the Princeville Airport to awaiting AMR and KFD personnel.

AMR personnel continued treatment of the hiker before transporting her to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.

The scene was cleared at approximately 6:15 p.m.
