The trash chute at the Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station is closed until further notice as it is need of repairs. County officials anticipate it to reopen around December.

Until the trash chute is repaired, bagged trash is being accepted at the lower area of the facility. Starting Aug. 23, residential used motor oil and propane tanks will be accepted for recycling at the top area of the transfer station on Wednesdays only.

All other services, including green waste and metal recycling remain available, weather permitting.
