Woman rescued from Uluwehi Falls Tuesday

Firefighters responded to a call of a female hiker in distress Tuesday afternoon near Uluwehi Falls in Wailua.

Shortly before 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, first responders were notified of a 22-year-old female visitor from France who reportedly had difficulty breathing near Uluwehi Falls.

According to a preliminary report, fire personnel from Kapa‘a fire station and Rescue 3 on Air 1 responded to a visitor in distress at the base of a waterfall shortly before 4:50 p.m. They safely loaded her onto Air 1 and transported her to a landing zone at Wailua Homesteads Park.

At the landing zone, AMR personnel continued treatment of the visitor before transporting her to Wilcox Medical Center in stable condition.

The scene was cleared shortly before 6:20 p.m.
