Kaua‘i-born YouTuber earns 5 Emmy Awards

A Kaua‘i-born filmmaker has won five regional Emmys, scooping up every award for which his YouTube series “Back to the Wild” was nominated.

Sam Potter took home awards for his roles of host, director, executive producer and editor of “Back to the Wild,” during the Northern California Area Emmys in San Francisco on June 3.

Potter’s YouTube series follows the 27-year-old filmmaker across he learns from people and place across the globe.

Its latest episode, “The Coral Gardeners,” chronicles ocean conservationists on Mo’orea in French Polynesia.
