Hōkūala Kaua‘i Scholarship Program awards 6 high school students

The 2nd annual Hōkūala Kaua‘i Scholarship Program has awarded $1,000 scholarships to six senior Kaua‘i high school students to assist them with their college undergraduate pursuits.

Scholarship recipients:

  • Haweo Akeo from Waimea High will attend the University of Hawai‘i.
  • Kadee Parubrub from Kaua‘i High will attend the University of Arizona.
  • Lilinoe Naihe from Kanuikapono will attend Grand Canyon University.
  • Maeani Arbilera from Waimea High will attend Weber State University.
  • Skylar Stewart from Island School will attend Colorado State University.
  • Kaimi Silva from Kaua‘i High will attend Oregon State University.

“Everyone at Hōkūala Kaua‘i extends our best wishes to these fine young men and women in
their pursuit of a higher education,” said Chris Gampon, general manager of Timbers Kauaiʻi. “We would like to
thank all of the students who applied for a scholarship and congratulate those who were
selected this year. We are proud to honor these remarkable young adults and feel confident they will continue to excel in their academic endeavors.”

2023 represents the second year of the Hōkūala Scholarship Program established for returning
goodwill to the communities on the island.
