The Kauai Police Department’s investigation into Saturday night’s hit-and-run involving two teenagers, found they were walking along the shoulder of Po‘ipū Road.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians on Po‘ipū Road fronting the Po‘ipū Beach Athletic Club. During the preliminary investigation it was believed the 13-year-old and 15-year-old female victims were crossing the road when they were struck by 25-year-old Noah Alejandro, who turned himself in Sunday morning.

After further review and with the help of witness statements, it was found they were walking eastbound along the eastbound shoulder of Po‘ipū Road when they were hit. Several family members were walking alongside them. Both victims remain in critical condition in Oah‘u.
