High surf advisory for south-facing shores on Kauaʻi, Niʻihau

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf alert for all south-facing shores of the Hawaiian Islands until 6 a.m. Monday.

A long period south swell (170 degrees) will fill in during the day on Saturday, peak on Saturday night and hold into Sunday.

A second pulse arriving on Monday could keep surf elevated through early next week.

The surf will build to 7 to 10 feet.

Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.

Head all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don’t go out.
