Impacted residents of Courtyards at Waipouli Apartments, their allies and affordable housing advocates will be holding a media event Friday to update the public on their effort to convince the state to purchase and convert all 82 units to affordable housing for the next 60 years.

This is an opportunity for the State of Hawaiʻi to prevent further evictions and provide affordable housing for hundreds of Kauaʻi residents for a lower cost and in a much faster timeline than waiting for new construction, according to advocates.

Lawmakers and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend the event in the parking lot of Kintaro’s restaurant.
