Florida man airlifted from Koke‘e on Tuesday

Firefighters responded to a man in distress Tuesday afternoon in Koke‘e.

Shortly before noon, first responders were notified of a man from Florida, in his 30s, who reportedly fell off a ridge while conducting work with a local conservation group in Koke‘e.

Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man about 40 feet down a steep side of a ridge with injuries to his back.

The man was short-hauled to a nearby landing zone in Koke‘e, then transferred into Air 1 and flown to Princeville Airport where awaiting Hanalei firefighters and AMR medics provided further support. The man declined further treatment and was released at the scene.
