Portions of Weliweli Road in Kōloa will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday for resurfacing work.

According to a release from the Dept. of Public Works and its contractors Maui Kupono Builders, resurfacing work on Weliweli Road has been extended May 21 to May 23 due to weather delays.

Starting Monday, lane closures and one-way traffic will begin for portions of Weliweli Road, between Kōloa Road and Waikomo Road. Traffic will be detoured through Kōloa Road and Waikomo Road during work hours.

Motorists should use alternate routes. No parking will be allowed in the work zones. Flaggers will be positioned on-site to help motorists and pedestrians navigate around the work zones. Access to properties will be provided.

Officials say drivers should anticipate detours, lane, and road closure delays and allow extra travel time while driving through the work areas.
