Kaua‘i firefighters battle Kapa‘a blaze that engulfed small structure, 2 vehicles
A small structure and two vehicles inside at a location on Kūhiō Highway in Kapa‘a received about $70,000 in damage from a fire that broke out early Saturday morning.
Multiple Kaua‘i Fire Department units were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m., where they found the structure and vehicles fully engulfed in flames. There were no occupants in the building at the time and no injuries were reported.
Kapa‘a firefighters were first on scene and were soon assisted by personnel from the Kaiākea, Līhu‘e, and Kalāheo fire stations, along with the on-duty battalion chief.
Upon their arrival, firefighters observed neighboring residents using garden hoses to protect their properties from exposure. The fire had also extended to a nearby coconut tree and to the fence line where a utility line was down in the driveway.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and continued to extinguish all flames.
Personnel with the Fire Prevention Bureau are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
