Akemama Road to close May 2, 3 for tree trimming, roadside maintenance

The Kaua‘i Department of Public Works Roads Division will be closing Akemama Road in Lāwa‘i, between Kaumuali‘i Highway and Lawaiuka Road, on May 2 and May 3, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary for crews to conduct tree trimming and roadside maintenance work along the narrow sections of the roadway.

The road will be fully closed during work hours from 8 to 10:30 a.m., and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on both days.

Motorists are advised to follow all roadwork signs, make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the road closure, and allow extra time to get to their destinations.

A message board is being mobilized to notify motorists in the area. Officials are also sending out letters to notify nearby residents.
