High surf advisory for Kauaʻi, Niʻihau; waves up to 16 feet forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory along north- and west-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Surf of 12 to 16 feet is expected along north-facing shores, and 8 to 12 feet along west-facing shores.

Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.

Head all advice from ocean safety officials. Know your limits. When in doubt, don’t go out.
