Update: Flood advisory canceled for Kaua‘i
Updated at 4:46 p.m. on April 24: Weather radar shows that the heavy rain has diminished resulting in the flood advisory being canceled.
Updated at 2:45 p.m. on April 24: The National Weather Service has extended the flood advisory for Kauaʻi until 5 p.m.
At 2:36 p.m., radar indicated localized heavy showers over interior, northern and eastern portions of Kauaʻi, with rain falling at rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour.
Original post: The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Kaua‘i. It is in effect until 2:45 p.m.
At 11:41 a.m., radar indicated slow-moving heavy showers over portions of northern and eastern Kaua‘i, with rain falling at a rate of up to one inch per hour.
Impacts include minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas and in streams.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Līhu‘e, Kapa‘a, Princeville, Kilauea, North Fork Wailuā Trails, Wailuā Homesteads, Hanalei, Wailuā, Moloa‘a, Anahola, Wainiha, Ha‘ena, Na Pali State Park, Koke‘e State Park, Wailuā River State Park, Kalihiwai, Kealia, Hanama‘ulu and Puhi.
The Nationa Weather Service urges those on Kaua‘i to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Its advisory may need to be extended beyond 2:45 p.m. if flooding persists.
