Kaua‘i weekly lane closures: April 22-28

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced lane closures for April 22-28. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

MAKAWELI TO ‘ELE‘ELE

Single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the westbound direction between mile marker 15 to 21, in the vicinity of Mahinauli Gulch and Laulea Street, from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.

KALAHEO

Right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the eastbound direction between mile marker 10.3 to 11.4, in the vicinity of Hokua Road to Koloa Road, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Hawaiian Telcom utility work. Alternating traffic will be contraflowed through the open westbound lane.

LĪHU‘E

Single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the westbound direction between mile marker 3 and 4, in the vicinity of Pu‘uana Road and Kipu Road, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

LĪHU‘E TO HANAMAULU

Single right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Rice Street and Kaua‘i Beach Drive, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for repairs on damaged guard rails.

LĪHU‘E (NIGHT WORK)

Single right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction in the vicinity of Kali Road and Laukini Road, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for placement of cable facilities on existing aerial power and telephone poles.

HANAMAULU TO WAILUA (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kapule Highway and Haleilio Road, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. for installation of bird diverters on energized transmission lines.

WAILUA (24/7 CONDITION)

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaa Bypass, for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements.

WAILUA

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail and drainage installation and striping.

WAILUA (NIGHT WORK)

Nightly two-lane closures of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass on Sunday, April 23 through Friday, April 28 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for traffic light adjustment as a part of the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.

KAPA‘A

Single right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction at the highway’s intersection with Kukui Street and Huluili Street, on Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for refreshing of crosswalks in the Kukui Street intersection.

ANAHOLA

Single lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in either direction at Moloa‘a Stream Bridge on Monday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine inspection of Moloa‘a Stream Bridge.

KĪLAUEA

Single shoulder closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction at Kīlauea Stream Bridge, on Tuesday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine inspection of Kilauea Stream Bridge.
