Permanent Affordable Living on Kaua’i is joining hundreds of other nonprofits across the state to participate in the Hawai’i Lodging and Tourism Association Charity Walk on May 6.

The walk starts at 7 a.m. and will be a four-mile loop starting from Vidinha Stadium.

Permanent Affordable Living has submitted a grant request to the tourism authority to purchase equipment for its Beyond Housing Program Center in Kekaha.

The center is located at the Kauhale O Kekaha rental community and will offer a supportive environment where tenants can build community and access vital services and training.

The space will include a conference room to host workshops on financial literacy and planning, nutrition education, entrepreneurship, small business management and after school programs. A computer lab will provide tenants with access to WIFI, laptop computers and printing. There also will be an office for 1-on-1 case management meetings between the nonprofit’s program director and beneficiaries

The more walkers that register and donations that are raised through Permanent Affordable Living, the better the chance of receiving the grant.
