A brown water advisory has been issued for Kaua‘i shores, impacting Kukui’ula Bay to Keoniloa Bay as well as MacArthur Beach Park to Salt Pond Beach Park.

The brown water advisory is also impacting east-facing shores from Kalapaki Beach Park to Wailua Beach.

According to the Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch, heavy rain has resulted in stormwater runoff entering coastal waters. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and stormwater runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.

Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, however, if the water is brown stay out.
