Strong thunderstorm has moved over Kaua‘i

A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of Kauai through 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At 6:19 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout over Kapa‘a, or 8 miles north of Līhu‘e. NWS reports to potential of not only landspouts but winds in excess of 40 mph.

Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

This storm will remain over sparsely populated areas of Kaua‘i, including the following locations: Puhi, Kalihiwai, Hanamaulu, Kealia and Wailua River State Park.
