The National Weather Service in Honolulu has canceled the flood watch that was in effect for Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.

Widespread thunderstorms with intense lightning and heavy rainfall advanced toward Kaua‘i from the west this morning, with some of the strongest storms producing rainfall of at least 2 inches per hour at times throughout the morning and early afternoon Saturday, April 1, causing a threat for flash flooding.

Several advisories were issued throughout the day, including a flash flood warning as waters began to rise near the Hanalei Bridge. However, flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat.
