Update: Flood advisory and thunderstorm warning for Kaua’i on Thursday afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Kaua’i until 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The National Weather Service also is warning about severe thunderstorms that will impact portions of Kauaʻi through 2:30 p.m.
At 1:09 p.m. on Thursday, radar indicated heavy rain moving into western Kaua’i. The rain will continue moving over the island over the next couple of hours. Radar estimates that rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
Some locations that will experience flooding include: Līhuʻe, Kapaʻa, Kalaheo, Kekaha, Princeville, Kīlauea, North Fork Wailua Trails, Lawai, Omao, Kokeʻe State Park, Wailua
Homesteads, Hanalei, Hanapēpē, Wainiha, Nā Pali State Park, Kōloa, Haʻena, Waimea, Wailua and Poʻipū.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Do not cross fast-flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
