A female has just been rescued from heavy surf by the Kauaʻi East Roving Ski patrol at Donkey (Palikū) Beach on Kauai’s East side, according to initial reports.

First responders on scene state that she is in serious but stable condition. Lifeguards responded immediately on jet skis from the nearest lifeguard tower located at Kealia Beach, about a mile away.

Kaua’i Engine and Truck Two, Kaua’i Ocean Safety East Roving Ski and American Medical Response paramedics are on scene treating the patient, and extricating her along the Kaua’I Bike Path to an ambulance.

The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for north- and west-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau until 6 a.m. Friday.
