Update: High wind advisory for Kauaʻi canceled

Updated at 1:30 p.m. on March 2: The National Weather Service has canceled the high wind advisory for Kauaʻi. Winds across Kauaʻi and Oʻahu continue to weaken and have largely
fallen below advisory levels. However, gusty winds remain possible through this evening.

Original post: The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 6 p.m. on Thursday for most of Kauaʻi.

East winds of 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts of 50 mph are forecast.

Winds this strong can knock down tree branches, blow away tents and unsecured objects, and make it difficult to drive, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.
