Update: Flash flood warning issued for Kauaʻi
Update at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 20: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Kaua‘i due to persistent bands of heavy rainfall.
Radar showed persistent bands of heavy rainfall moving over Kauaʻi from the southeast with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Water levels have begun to rise in the streams across
much of the island, especially in the South Fork Wailua and Hanalei Rivers.
Runoff impacting vulnerable low lying areas and roads is likely through the late evening hours.
Flash flooding is imminent or is occurring in streams, roads and low-lying areas. Do not cross fast-flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Ponding, low visibility and other hazardous driving conditions are expected. If you must drive, please do so with extreme caution.

Update at 7:45 p.m on Feb. 20: The National Weather Service has extended the flood advisory for Kaua’i until 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Radar indicated heavy rain moving over the south shore of Kauaʻi at around 4:30 p.m. with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
The heavy rain will continue to spread across the entire island through the remainder of the
afternoon.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
