Update: Water conservation notice from Hanalei to Ha’ena lifted
This story was updated at 12:32 p.m. Jan. 31: The Kaua‘i County Department of Water lifted the water conservation notice from Hanalei to Ha’ena as of 11 a.m. Tuesday. Customers can now resume normal water use.

As of 4:25 p.m., there are 305 customers impacted.
This story was updated at 12:55 p.m. on Jan. 30: Most of the power outages reported by Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative have resolved with only 31 customers impacted by the outage.

Earlier this morning, 554 customers were without power, and as of 11:30 a.m., 2,028 are without power. Most of the outages are in Hanalei.
Original post: The Department of Water has issued a water conservation request from Hanalei to Hā’ena until further notice, due to electrical power outages and severe weather conditions occurring in the area. Customers are advised to limit water use to essential needs only, such as cooking, drinking or sanitation use, to prevent a full water service outage.
While the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative, the Garden Isle’s power company, reports islandwide outages, most appear to be occurring in the Hanalei area with 504 customers impacted.
Additional water conservation measures include turning off appliances and fixtures that automatically draw water such as ice machines and irrigation systems.
An update will be provided when the conservation notice has been lifted.
