Brown water advisory issued for Kaua‘i

The Hawai’i Department of Health Clean Water Branch System has issued a brown water advisory for Kaua‘i.

Heavy rain has caused stormwater runoff to enter coastal waters. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and stormwater runoff because of possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.

Not all coastal areas could be impacted; however, if the water is brown, stay out.

The public is reminded to continue to practice good personal hygiene and follow up with their primary care physician if they experience any health concerns.
