The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.

A new long-period northwest swell (320 degrees) will fill in tonight, peak on Friday, before dropping below advisory levels on Saturday.

The forecast is for surf to build to 15 to 20 feet along north-facing shores and 10 to 15 feet on west-facing shores until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
