Drug-free nonprofit invites Kaua‘i to Līhuʻe open house
The Hoʻokele Coalition of Kauaʻi, a non-profit drug-free coalition to prevent youth substance use, will host an open house event on the East Side of Kaua‘i on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
The event will be held at Hale ‘Ōpio Kaua‘i, located at 2959 Umi Street in Līhuʻe, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature drug prevention programs and resources for the youth of Kauai.
It is the first open house event held by the Ho‘okele Coalition. The event will introduce the
drug-free coalition to the community and gather updated local data through a drug mapping
activity, where attendees will pin locations of youth substance use on the island. This information will allow the coalition to find youth substance use hotspots to prioritize in future action and planning efforts.
Community members are welcome to stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The open
house will include light refreshments and free prizes for attendees and drug mapping participants.
A coalition general membership meeting will be held on Feb. 15, 2023.
This meeting will be held to review and analyze the data gathered from the drug mapping activity. After gathering and analyzing the data, the coalition can strategize the next steps.
