Kauaʻi lane closures for Jan. 15-20

There will be no lane closures on Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Kūhiō Highway southbound contraflow also will not operate on this day. 

Kūhiō Highway (Route 56):

1) Kealia (night work) 

Right shoulder closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile marker 9.7 to 10.08, in the vicinity of Kealia Beach Park and St. Catherine Cemetery from Jan. 15-20, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for utility work.

2) Kapaʻa (night work) 

Lane shift and one lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile marker 9 to 9.07, in the vicinity of Kawaihau Road, Jan. 15-20, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for utility work. 

3) Wailua

Right lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, between Kapaʻa Bypass and Kuamoʻo Road, on Jan. 17-20, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail installation and surveying. 

4) Wailua (Night work) 

Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapaʻa Bypass and Kuamoʻo Road on Jan. 15-20 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements. Two-way traffic will be maintained by contraflow of one northbound lane.

5) Wailua (24/7 condition) 

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaʻa Bypass, for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements.
