Male visitor in critical condition after being pulled from waters off Anini Beach

A visitor from Shanghai, China, is in critical condition on Monday after being pulled from waters off Anini Beach.
According to a preliminary report, shortly before 3:40 p.m., first responders received a call of a male pulled from waters off Anini Beach by a paddleboarder. Upon arrival, first responders administered CPR to the 45-year-old male victim.
AMR personnel continued advanced life-saving treatment on the swimmer while in transport to Wilcox Medical Center. He is currently in critical condition.
Personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Ocean Safety Bureau, American Medical Response, and a bystander responded to the incident.

The scene was cleared at approximately 4:40 p.m.
The Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau is assisting the man’s family.
