If you haven’t gotten your fireworks permit for this New Year’s Eve online, don’t fret. The Kaua‘i Fire Department launched a pilot program to allow the purchase of permits at two vendor locations.

Permits through the pilot program are available for purchase in person at Pacific Fireworks at Hokulei Village in Līhu‘e and TNT at Walmart in Līhu‘e. Customers can apply, print and pay for fireworks permits at the two locations through Dec. 31, while supplies last.

Those wanting to get permits at the two vendor locations are encouraged to apply for permits online and print them prior to arriving at the vendors to limit wait times. Fire Department staff will continue reviewing and approving permits online throughout New Year’s Eve day. The Department of Motor Vehicles will accept payments through 4 p.m. Dec. 30.

TNT in the Safeway Tent does not have a printer but can accept payment to validate permits for those who already printed their approved permits. The vendor also cannot assist with permit applications online.
