2 injured following single-engine plane crash at Līhu‘e Airport
Authorities are investigating a single-engine plane crash at Līhu‘e Airport this afternoon that left two people injured.
According to the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation, a small Cessna made a hard landing shortly after takeoff just off the airport grounds around noon.
Personnel with the Līhu‘e fire station, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, American Medical Response and the Kaua‘i Police Department responded to the incident. The two individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Wilcox Medical Center in stable but serious condition.
HDOT states the crash didn’t impact other operations at Līhu‘e. The public is urged to avoid the area. The Federal Aviation Administration is leading the investigation.
