Kauaʻi Police Department promotes 7, honors 4 and welcomes 3 new officers

This week, the Kauaʻi Police Department promoted seven officer, honored four officers who retired or are retiring, and hired three new officers from the 97th Police Recruit Class.

During a ceremony at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Nov. 30, the Kaua‘i Police Department promoted Jason Overmyer and Stacy Perreira to the rank of Lieutenant. The department also promoted Ritchael Cariaga, Andrew Muraoka, Ariel Ramos, Macy Telles and Tyler Yates to the rank of Sergeant.

“We thank all the promotees for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice in serving and protecting our community and wish them continued safety and success in their new assignments,” Police Chief Todd G. Raybuck said. 

On Dec. 6, four employees who retired or will be retiring were honored for their outstanding years of service and dedication to the Kaua‘i Police Department and Kaua‘i community.

Lt. Christopher Calio (20 years and 5 months of service) and Emergency Services Dispatcher II Nellie Bunao (29 years of service) retired Nov. 30.

Officers Orlino Antolin (10 years of service) and Chito Garduque (2 years of service as a public safety worker and 17 years of service as a police officer) will be retiring Dec. 30.

“We want to thank these employees for all of the years of sacrifice, dedication and steadfast service in keeping our community safe,” Chief Raybuck said. “We wish them the best of health and happiness in retirement or other next endeavors.”

On Dec. 7, a special graduation and oath of office ceremony also was held at the Kaua‘i Veteran’s Center for the Kaua‘i Police Department’s 97th Police Recruit Class.

Officers Blaise K. Banquel, Christopher A. Bartlett and Ismael “Adam” Tabalno are KPD’s newest police officers. 

“We are so very proud of you and wish you all a successful career as a police officer with the Kaua‘i Police Department,” Chief Raybuck said.
