The five-way intersection of Mailihuna Road, Hau‘a‘ala Road and Kawaihau Road in Kapa‘a continues to experience temporary traffic shifts and closures as construction of a new roundabout progresses.

Construction will continue from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, and temporary traffic control plans will be in place. Intermittent one-lane closures are planned during the week to allow road reconstruction at the roundabout. Other portions of the three roadways also will be closed and detours will be in place.

No road work will occur during peak traffic times for school drop off and pick up.

Traffic control configurations around the intersection will change during the next several weeks as construction moves forward. Various sections of the roundabout will require closing, and the detours routes will vary. The public is urged to exercise caution and drive slowly through the marked detour areas, particularly through Kolohala Road.

Dates and times of construction and closures are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
