No injuries reported after small brush fire ignites in Līhu‘e
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged following a brush fire in Līhu‘e Sunday afternoon.
Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters responded to the at about 12:35 p.m. Firefighters with the Līhu‘e and Kapa‘a fire stations, Air 1, Tanker 1, Rescue 3, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
When they arrived on scene, crews found a 2-acre fire in an open field near Ho‘olako Street.
With the assistance of ARFF, KFD personnel prevented the fire from spreading to homes near Kawili Street. Firefighters later secured the permitter of fire and extinguished it.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. The scene was cleared shortly after 3:20 p.m.
