Map for Rice Street Block Party 2022

The Rice Street Block Party, a family-focused event, will run from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The block party will feature a keiki zone with a climbing wall, rides and games; and a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i.

Live music will be performed by Kapena, Cruz Control, Kawaiola Productions and Cory Mira. There also will be live muralists, classic cars, electric vehicles on display, and food and local artisan vendors.

“This event aims to bring our community together in our revitalized Rice Street district to experience art, culture, food, shopping, entertainment, and to learn more about our Līhu‘e Civic Center Mobility Plan and Kaua‘i Climate Adaptation Plan, which are currently in the planning stages,” Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami said in a news release.

The first Rice Street Block Party was held in 2017 to help the community envision what the then-proposed Rice Street improvements would look like.

“Now that our Līhu‘e Town Core Mobility and Revitalization Project is complete, we can see up-close how far we’ve come,” Mayor Kawakami said.

Free parking will be available at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall and the Līhu‘e Civic Center. The public is also encouraged to take the Kaua‘i Bus, which will provide free service islandwide on Oct. 29.
