The Kauaʻi Department of Parks and Recreation held a blessing Tuesday morning at Hanapēpē Stadium for the Hanapēpē Park Improvements Project grand opening.

The improvements will include a new multi-use building containing a ticket booth, prep kitchen and a concession area. Additional restrooms are also part of the project.

“When this facility is completed, it will support many community organizations and give our sports teams a rallying point on and off the field,” Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami said.

The $3 million project was funded through the County of Kaua‘i, state capital improvement funds and a federal grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund through the National Park Service.

The work will be done by Shioi Construction and begins in November 2022. It is estimated to be completed in August 2023.
