A high surf advisory has been issued for north-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i through Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a north swell of 340 to 350 degrees will generate advisory level surf. Surf will build from 12 to 16 feet this afternoon then increase to 14 to 18 feet on Thursday.

The advisory is until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Impacts are anticipated to be moderate. Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
