High surf advisory issued for Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau
A high surf advisory was issued for north- and west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i till 6 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, a northwest swell (320 to 340 degrees) will generate low-end advisory level surf along north- and west-facing shores of ‘Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i and along north-facing shores of O‘ahu, Molokai and Maui through tonight.
Surf along the north-facing shores is expected to be 12-16 feet. On the West-facing shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau, it’s expected to be 8-12 feet.
Impacts are anticipated to be moderate. Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
