County committee donated period product packs for homeless girls and women on Kaua’i

The Kaua‘i County Committee on the Status of Women provided 138 period product packs to three nonprofits who help homeless girls and women.

The committee donated 46 packets each to Hale Opio Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity and Family Life Center Kaua‘i during a presentation Friday at the Līhu‘e Civic Center’s Mo‘ikeha Building.

“Access to period products is essential for health and safety, especially for women in need,” said Edie Ignacio Neumiller, Kaua‘i Commissioner and Ex-Officio of the committee.

The three organizations provide support services for women and youth through their programs and overall missions to address and serve the health and safety needs of the Kaua‘i community.

“We are grateful to you all for the work you do and giving your time and resources to help those in need,” Mayor Derek Kawakami said.
