Occasional Traffic Delays Scheduled at Kōloa Roundabout
Work at an intersection in Kōloa will likely cause occasional traffic delays this week.
Crews will be working from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sept. 26-30 on the Kōloa Road Roundabout central island at the Kōloa Road and Ala Kalanikaumaka intersection. Work will include construction and installation of landscaping, a circular retaining wall and a sculpture.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of October. Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
Large trucks and trailers and eastbound motorists from the west side, Kalāheo or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and Po‘ipū.
Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this project.
